A little chat about stress and the immune system β¦
Unless youβve been living under a rock for the last 18 months, we all know how important it is to stay safe and well now that Winter is approaching fast β¦ eating nourishing foods, hydrating well, exercising and getting enough sleep are all important to maintaining a healthy immune system. Yep! we know this β¦ but are you aware that if you donβt manage the stress in your life, all the above good work can be undone by that pesky cortisol racing around your body? It suppresses the immune system, leaving you more vulnerable to winter bugs and, of course, the dreaded C word.
The solution is not as hard as you may think β¦ take some time, each day if youβre able, to chill β¦ take a walk in the fresh air, sit quietly with a cup of tea, meditate if you can, give a loved one a shoulder massage or a foot rub (studies have shown that the giver benefits as much as the receiver - a great little bargaining chip for you π).
What ever it is that works for you, give yourself the gift of some regular time out and your immune system will thank you by looking after you through the winter months.
